What is information security?

Information security refers to the technologies, policies and practices used to protect confidentiality, integrity and availability of information from cyber-attacks and other types of threat.

Why is information security important?

Information is critical to all University of Oxford operations. Any failure to protect our information automatically increases the risk of:

• Reputational damage to the university
• Potential monetary loss

Information security is critical to all University of Oxford activities and it takes more than just a central team to achieve and maintain good cyber posture. Our Teams in InfoSec are here to help you carry out teaching, research, innovation, and administration securely and safely, ensuring our University's data is available when you need it, its integrity is assured, and only those who need to see it can see it.

How can I take action?
