Southern Ohio Cleanup Company LLC is comprised of more than 2,000 workers dedicated to the safe environmental cleanup of the Portsmouth site to prepare the land for reindustrialization.

Headed by Amentum, Southern Ohio Cleanup Company (SOCCo) includes Fluor and Cavendish, and is supported by Veolia Nuclear Solutions Federal Services, LLC (Veolia), four specialty small businesses, and three local candidate protégé companies.
Our combined end-state, closure, and gaseous diffusion plant decommissioning and demolition experience is unrivaled and includes successful operations on all DOE closure and reindustrialization sites, including 11 years at Portsmouth. Amentum leads cleanup on the East Tennessee Technology Park in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Fluor has been lead cleanup contractor for the Portsmouth, Ohio, and Paducah, Kentucky, gaseous diffusion sites and the Fernald Feed Materials Production Center in Ohio. Cavendish has led fast reactor nuclear decommissioning at the Dounreay site in Scotland and Magnox reactor sites in the United Kingdom.
Jordan Swavel has been on the PORTS site for more than 16 years and is currently the On Site Waste Characterization and Disposition Manager. He started his career at PORTS as an intern and returned to work as a security escort after graduating from Muskingum College with a degree in Environmental Science. After getting his foot in the door, he found his way to Waste Management with his first job as an Environmental Engineer.
