A nationwide survey on the state of generation and treatment of industrial waste in FY 2001 (April 1, 2001 - March 31, 2002) was conducted and the results have been summarized as follows:

Total amount of industrial waste: Down approximately 6 million tons (approximately 1.4%) compared to the previous fiscal year.

Amount by industries: Top-six industries account for 80% of the total, the same as in FY2000.
