Cousin Michael
[
画像:[Photo of Michael]]
A couple weeks ago, I got another email out of the blue from Joe, a friend of my cousin Michael Blaheta. Three years ago Mike died, and I wrote an unfortunate angry post about the family not being contacted, followed by an apology a little later. Because he had so little net presence before, these are among the top google hits for his name, and people find him here.
Joe sent me a scan of a picture that Mike had given him once, and asked me to post it. Mike had something of a modelling career悠 remember at least once gathering around the TV to see him on a talk show, and he'd gotten into magazines a few times傭ut the exact provenance of this photo is unknown.
As I was writing this post, I looked back and discovered that the original obituary page for him has been taken down, guest book and all (so much for a permanent record), and the obit site had blocked web crawlers so none of the internet archives have a copy. Legacy.com appears to have kept it but is now charging 3ドル for anyone who wants to read the guest book.
Which is too bad, because a lot of people posted a lot of nice things about Mike there, and now anyone looking to find out what happened just finds the nasty batch of responses on my original angry post. :(
Anyone who wants to post guest-book-y things about Michael are perfectly welcome to do so here. I promise I won't ever charge anyone to see them.

All these posts concerning the death of Mike Blaheta need to be removed. When some of these people are searched, all this crap comes up.

Thank you Erich for requesting that all these posts concerning the death of our precious son be removed. These were posted by people that had no idea of how wonderful and loving a son our Michael was. Both Michael's mother and myself look forward to joing our son in heavenly places with our Savior. The Lord, Christ Jesus.
There we will all find peace, finally!
I do not appreciate the picture of my son that is posted, please be respectful and remove it.

I remember Mike fondly from my days at Powerhouse Gym in Schaumburg, Illinois. I relocated to California in 2000 and years later I was searching for old friends online and came across the sad news.
Mike was always fun to talk to, I admired his dedication and I really liked him. He is still missed among his many friends at that gym that have long since gone their separate ways.

What a heartfelt post remembering Michael. It痴 clear he touched many lives, and it痴 wonderful that you池e keeping his memory alive here. Even though some original records are gone, posts like this show how meaningful personal stories and shared memories are. It痴 a reminder that lasting legacies aren稚 just about online archives, but about the people and communities ? much like the care and dedication

These are some of the top Google results for his name, and people find him here since he had a very small online presence previously. Regards from

Thank you for sharing this, and for keeping a space where people can remember Michael with kindness. It痴 a real shame that the original obituary and guest book disappeared behind paywalls, but I知 glad you池e giving everyone another place to honor him. The photo is a lovely reminder of who he was, and it means a lot that you池e helping his memory stay accessible.
