Tivo says...
One full day after hooking up my Tivo and telling it what I wanted it to record (The Daily Show, several Adult Swim series, and anything with the keyword "ballroom"), it has helpfully recorded all of the following as well:
- The O'Reilly Factor
- Caillou
- King of the Hill
- House of Mouse
- Jimmy Neutrino
- Kim Possible
- Reno 911!
- Foster's home for imaginary friends
- Aqua Teen Hungerforce (not on my original list)
I guess it runs its algorithm by picking up on the "animated" part, not so much on the "other people who like this also like that" thing. Ah well.

Also, thumbs down are as important as thumbs up.

Keep an eye on The Daily Show. As long as the episode information is available your TiVo will dutifully record at 11pm and all will be well. But sometimes the episode information doesn't make it to the TiVo (I've had this happen in both RI and MD). Then it records EVERY EPISODE PLAYING. And, of course, The Daily Show plays the previous night's episode something like five times a day. Your TiVo will fill all too quickly.
Also, I recommend replacing the HD with something larger. 160GB has been good.

I gave up on automatic recording of The Daily Show.
Now I just have 4 manual record slots, one each for the midnight shows, Monday through Thursday. (Well, technically Tuesday through Friday.) I didn't want to do 10pm as that can conflict with other shows.
