At our lab we use the Qiagen kit QIAEXII (no affilitation) with great
success for the recovery of DNA fragments from agarose gels. It works well
with both TAE and TBE and depending on the size of the fragment, recovery
ranges from 60-90%. We have had no problems with subsequent ligations or
radioactive labelling labelling. This kit can also be used to purify
enzymatic digestions or for desalting.
Hope this helps.
