This Hydroides sp. was collected from a boat hull in a marina in Northland, New Zealand. Coiled tube. Animal is ~15 x 2mm, thicker and more heavily-built than H. elegans. Verticil spines about 10, strongly in-curved, each with one pair of lateral spinules, and a basal tubercle, no central tooth. Rather massive bayonet setae. Thoracic chaetigers have pigment 'stripe' anterior to the line of uncini. In the anterior abdominal chaetigers the line of uncini almost meets dorsally, and also has a faint pigment stripe.
