Thanksforward

Idea

Thanksgiving + Pay it forward = Thanksforward

As I watched my Twitters this morning (2008年11月27日) of friends giving thanks for various things, people etc. the thought occured to me, what if we combined this tradition of thanking with the "pay it forward"? philosophy (introduced by Benjamin Franklin, term apparently coined by Robert Heinlein, and popularized recently by the film of the same name). As of this writing there was only one Google result for the precise word thanksforward (which appears to be an unintentional space omission 1 ).

Implementation

The implementation is simple.

1. Give thanks to a specific person.
2. If someone gives thanks to you, give thanks to three (or more) other people.

Twitter

Some tips for public thanksforwarding on Twitter:

1. Be sure to thank the people by their specific @-name/alias.
2. Use Twitter Search to search for thanks to your @-name/alias for you to forward.
3. Consider starting your tweet thanks with #thanksforward so it can be found by a Twitter Search on thanksforward!
