I obviously got the arithmetic wrong. This actually happened
when there were still 25ドル bonds and they cost 18ドル.75,
and I did the revisions wrong. The correct analogy is
this: I sell you the letter for 50,ドル then you buy two
50ドル bonds for 25ドル each and sell two copies of the letter
for 50ドル each. Now you really ARE even.
Incidentally, the person to whom this happened is not
an invention -- this is a real individual with whom I
really did work at one time.
