The mysterious Houston lo-fi recluse Jandek has been making it out of the house more and more often lately, playing one-off live shows with one-off backing bands. And at a show in Portland next year, Jandek will share a stage with Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore.
Jandek and Moore will play together April 29 at Portland's Hollywood Theatre; TwentyFourBit points us to the show listing. TwentyFourBit also points out that Moore's interest in Jandek is nothing new; he covered "Painted My Teeth" on the 2000 Jandek tribute album Naked in the Afternoon.
The great Portland record store Jackpot Records is promoting the show. Jackpot also produced a Jandek show in Portland in 2006, as Jandek was just coming out of decades of total isolation. Jackpot taped that show and released it as the live album Portland Thursday .
This will be Jandek's second onstage collaboration with a prominent indie rock dude in just over a year. At a show in Chapel Hill this past February, Mountain Goats frontman John Darnielle played keyboards for Jandek.
