If you wonder what all these numbers mean, then you need to understand the current Subject Review methodology being used by the United Kingdom's Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) for Higher Education. Marks were awarded to the School of Crystallography for the quality of its teaching across all its taught courses by a Subject Review Panel. A maximum of 4 points per category was awarded for each of the Six Aspects of Provision. Courses included in the review were:

MSc in Biomolecular Organisation

MSc in Molecular Modelling and Bioinformatics

Adv.Cert. in Principles of Protein Structure (Internet Course)

Adv.Cert. in Protein Crystallography (Internet Course)

Adv.Cert. in Powder Diffraction (Internet Course)

SPA Student Progression and Achievement

SSG Student Support and Guidance

LR Learning Resources

QME Quality Management and Enhancement

Scale Points:

4 This aspect makes a full contribution to the attainment of the stated objectives.
The aims set by the subject provider are met.

3 This aspect makes a substantial contribution to the attainment of the stated objectives; however, there is scope for improvement.
The aims set by the subject provider are met.

2 This aspect makes an acceptable contribution to the attainment of the stated objectives, but significant improvement could be made.
The aims set by the subject provider are broadly met.

1 The aims and/or objectives set by the subject provider are not met; there are major shortcomings that must be rectified.
