Absolutely! This is one of the things I'm finding out, and one of the 
things that make Microformats so useful.

I guess the only issue would be if the work being cited did not have 
a hyperlink, since the "rel" attribute is only applicable to <a> and 
<link> tags. With OpenURL, this may not be a problem, but the 
examples of OpenURL aren't being used to generate links.[1] I believe 
OpenURL can be used to create links to sources that redirect users to 
their local libraries/institutions...is this correct?
And, for citations that do not have a link, is it OK to use <span 
class="vote-for"> instead of <a rel="vote-for">, or some equivalent?
