At the time it looked like misogyny, not trolling. Tolerance of things like
that is probably one of the things that make some women unwilling to post to
this list. You can't judge things on the basis of who says it. The fact
that I respect Alphax's opinion (in general) and think that he's often one
of the more sensible people posting to this list is all the more reason to
call him on the statement he made.
"Don't feed the trolls" is a meaningless cliche, especially in this
context. "Silence is consent" is far more applicable.
