G'Day Hank,
Totally agree. The Award lists and the Prefix table in LOGic are our
responsibility. Dennis's responsibility to make sure any new installation
of LOGic9 or any update contains a Prefix table that is as up to date as
possible, and a few Award lists to get started.
Have you been using the new USER ENTRY records in the LOGic9 Prefix table?
How did you transition from the older format, where you actually updated the
system records, and the new capability where your USER ENTRIES are preserved
across LOGic 9 updates?
Have you made, are you willing to make, entries in the LOGIc forum for the
Prefix table updates - to help Dennis keep the system Prefix table up to
date?

Club Log is good but it isn't perfect. My first upload generated at more
than 5 pages of errors, some of which were valid and some of which had
already been credited for DXCC appropriately. Straightening the whole mess
out with CL was not going to be productive, so I bagged that and had a beer,
maybe several.
Going forward it has become better, mostly because I have taken charge of my
prefix table updates in L9. I update the prefixes that matter to me based
on need and validity, and not what the updates contain on the Logic site.
That has worked.
I think if you chase a ton of different awards, that is going to be an
onerous undertaking, but I only chase DXCC - so I have it easy, sort of.....
you still have to work them.
However, for a single individual, like Denis, to maintain that is also going
to be impossible. Therefore, I recommend you maintain your own stuff....

Hank

Much the same here - from WinTest and N1MM there's always a few pages of
wrongly allocated DXCC countries. - It's a real chore to correct them but a
task that needs to be done at some point. The most prevalent are the
European Russian stations and the Asiatic Russian stations. UA ->

Thank you for the clublog tip.
I uploaded my log and got 48 pages of errors!!!!
One of the problems is N1MM and ADIF.
In N1MM I use an up to date .CTY file and my current contest score is
correct.
However, N1MM does not export the country to ADIF, when Logic sees the QSO
it applies its current definition.
For example:
I worked DP1POL during the ARRL CW DX contest. N1MM correctly marked it as
Antartica.
When I imported the file, Logic said it was Germany.
There are too many crazy calls and exceptions to keep the Logic files
current.
It is too bad there is no easy way to import the N1MM .CTY files into Logic.
Well, I have my work cut out for me and in the future I will check with
clublog after each major import.

Jim

I have a suggestion that will help you folks. Join www.clublog.org, its
free. Upload your log and you will get an email reply telling you if there
are any errors in your log, like DXCC and such. The first time I did this I
had several .errors, some were the result of Logic and some were my fault.
Many DX Expeditions use this program.
Club Log gives you a clean count on awards and also gives you QSL info and
those you need for DXCC Challenge. Give it a try, .I am sure you will like
it.
A happy user of Logic 9!
