[LOGic] LOGic locking up

Hi Dennis,
Since I was the guy who mentioned the NIST connection, herewith an update:
Turning the Firewall off (Windows XP Pro, SP 3), allows LOGic to open normally, access NIST and reset the system clock. With the Firewall on, it freezes up just at the point where (normally) the time set pop-up would appear. Then it persists in using between 95 and 98% of the CPU until I shut it down.
Either NIST changed something, or one of the never-ending Windows updates did. The program worked fine with this configuration until about a month ago.
In any event, it's a simple enough matter to turn the Firewall off, start LOGic, then turn the Firewall back on.
TNX and 73,
Bill. K7JBQ

Subject: [LOGic] LOGic locking up
Hi Everyone:
I've had about a half-dozen calls about LOGic locking up. Someone
tracked the problem down to LOGIc's feature where the clock may be set
to NIST.
Funny thing is, it still works here (Win 7 64-bit). One time I got a
FAILED TO SET CLOCK message, but it never locks up. CPU usage is near
50% while it is waiting (dual-core CPU, so this is consistent), but when
it succeeds or times out, it drops back to 1 or 2%.
You can get back into the program by deleting \LOGIC8\PDA.INI, or better
yet by modifying PDA.INI and deleting this line
SetClockToNISTOnStartup=Yes
If you want to try to mess with it, try turning off any firewall. I am
running the Win 7 firewall, though -- as long as traffic is initiated by
your computer, it should open the port.
Tnx & 73,
Dennis WN4AZY
