I have tried all the afore mentioned ideas. I re-tried them just to be sure. I still get same results.
Regardless of what drive I use, USB drive, flash drive, etc.
Thanks for the ideas.

Another subtlety, especially if you back up to the local PC as well as to other PC's on a network (or with USB drives, etc.), after you click tools/backup-restore, hit the "Advanced" tab, then "Select". It'll let you search for directories on your local PC (including thumbdrives) as well as locations on your network. Once you select a target lcoation for the backup, enter a name for your backup file (use the current date), hit OPEN, and the click BACKUP. You have to do this operation for each destination, but it works well, as pretty intuitive, and is fast!
Good luck es 73

That's odd I've been using LOGic 8 with WIN XP for a while and never had this problem. Click Tools>Backup/Restore, select the drive and the backup is done in just a few seconds.

Hi, Phil,
You're probably already doing this, but with my Logic 8 I have to first download the log to the hard drive and then take it from there to the disc for a backup. It will store directly to a flash drive if you choose that method.

Subject: [LOGic] backup and restore
I have had problems for some time now with backup and restore in Logic 7.
I have always got the following error. Backup compression failed(C:\DOCUMEN~1\HP_ADM~1\LOCALS~1\TEMP\BAC323.TMP)
I then get. Error 96"Nesting error." has occurred in program FRMBACKUPRESTORE.BACKUP,line 0. Attempt to continue? yes or no
I can in no way get it to do a proper backup. The only way I have been able to save my log is by exporting in ADIF mode.
I have considered upgrading to Logic 8.
Anyone know how to fix this problem in Logic 7?
Is it still a problem in Logic 8?
Thanks for any help.
