But not on lists due to volume of recipients/responders, various ways the
reply is presented (examples: >, >>, >>>, or nothing at all, replies
above original comment, replies below original comment, etc.).
With the tremendous opportunity for confusion with who said what, the trend
is to "sign" your posts.
With non-list email, the names of the players are most often included in the
"To:" and "Cc:", so identification is more readily apparent. True, you can
create a group and "shotgun", but then you'll find then sign.
When emails are between 2 parties, or a limited number, then it's often
apparent as to who said what... plus who else then needs to decipher who's
saying what?
The key to all of this is the elimination of confusion, and just plain
making the emails for EVERYONE on a list easy to follow. It's the courteous
thing to do.
