Jim,
I leave my computer on all the time.
I don't use screen savers but prefer to use the screen ' Black out'
feature. I have it set for about 30 minutes. shut down.
The timer starts counting after the last key is hit or the mouse is
moved.
These setting are in Win9x under the monitor screen savers.
My computer is been on since 1995 with no problems.
After the 30 minutes. the entire system goes to sleep.
I leave the rig on also with no problems also days and
weeks at a time.
But have shut it down if I not playing radio for long periods,
how ever I never turn off the rigs power supply.
I have all in a nice cool finished "Dry basement" which
is about 20 degrees cooler then house up stairs year round.
Heat should be a factor if you decide to leave your equipment on.
Particularly
during summer months. If your shack doesn't stay cool naturally then you
have
to provide some means of keeping that area cool. I don't subjects you run
an
air condishner 24/7 unless you have stock in your local power company or
your a millionaire hi. But fine some way to keep things cool.
