I'm not a fan of software patents (unless the patent lasts for 2 years
or less - which is roughly equivalent in tech terms to the timespan of a
parent in tech terms when patents were invented and steam power was all
the rage).
Thank you for a great example of a patent actively hurting the patent
holder.
Abolish software patents today.

Sad note. Today news was posted that Google were granted a patent fpr
MapReduce despite lots of prior art (see Google for a better overview
plus links).
Even Google applies for non-worthy patents.
