Apropos of nothing much, people might be interested in the following link:

It describes, and gives examples of, a quantitative way of visualising
the comparitive performance of different code languages (based on data
from the Great Language Shootout). Lua and LuaJit both get honourable
mentions as being notably good --- LuaJit gets first rank for code
density and third for speed (Lua gets second and fifth respectively).
