nope, it doesn't.
print(dirname("x/y/z/abc\\def"));
print(basename("x/y/z/abc\\def"));
x/y/z/abc
def
it is totally wrong on Linux, 'cause "abc\def" is a perfectly
acceptable *file* name, not path+filename.
