Can you check whether function traversestack is being called for Thread
A (during the collection)?

(Didn't you mean "from the bottom"?) And what happens with the item
at position 4? After the collection, lua_gettop still returns 4? And,
if you call "lua_isnil(L, 3)" you actually get "true"?
