If locale is set to recognise numbers in locale format, Lua stops working, expecting this to _change language syntax_. Apparently this is a well-known problem[1,2]. Why has nothing been done about it? This kind of behaviour is inexcusably brain-damaged, even if doing otherwise would mean having to know more of the system than ANSI C provides.
