Re: [PLUG] apache + php + mySQL

IT work is truly hard to find. It is my perception that there is more
work on the M$ side than the LAMP side, however.
While reading Linux Journal I was thinking about this. I was thinking
that, as more organizations adopt Open Source software and methods,
there will be an increasing need for tech types who can develop or hack
software. I'm talking about a programmer/technician hybrid. (It's
common to hear a M$ tech say that they know nothing about scripting
even.) Unfortunately, that more than likely will continue to shift job
availability toward those who possess a BSCS degree. (And that in turn
could shift the jobs right out of the country.)
LAMP is great for your own Web development business or personal use. I
have even seen jobs ads listing those skills. Last month's Linux
Journal has an article on LAMP in the government. So, there is potential.
This I'm sure of: Unless trends in the computer industry change
drastically in the next 5 to 10 years, I won't be encouraging my son to
enter the field.
