Donation Pledge for Upgrading of the AIT International School Canteen

On behalf of Asian Institute of Technology International School (AITIS), we express our warm wishes to you and your family, hoping you are in the best of health.

The AITIS canteen, built in 2003, currently accommodates about 150 students within a 238m2 (17m x 14m) open structure. Due to its exposure to the elements, it requires frequent renovations, especially during the rainy season. The canteen has been extended over time to accommodate growing student numbers.

Current AITIS Canteen

We are excited to announce plans to upgrade the AITIS canteen to enhance student comfort and attract more students. The improvement plan includes:

  • Increasing the canteen size to accommodate 200 students
  • Enclosing the structure for better protection
  • Installing air conditioning and fans
  • Providing better furniture and fixtures
  • Repainting the building, adding new flooring, and roofing the entire structure

Canteen Renovation Plan

Benefits to Donors:

GTE & GEPG Laboratory Facilities Campaign
Support the upgrade of AIT's vital Geotechnical laboratories—empowering both teaching and industry with modern equipment.
About the Laboratories
The GTE and GEPG laboratory facilities were established at the Asian Institute of Technology in 1973. The laboratory currently consists of the following five testing fields:

  • Soil Testing
  • Rock Testing
  • Aggregate Testing
  • Geosynthetics Testing
  • Field Testing

In addition to regular laboratory testing services for the industry, faculty and students regularly use the laboratory facilities and equipment to carry out experiments related to teaching and research activities.

Challenge: The majority of the testing devices are over four decades old and are getting outdated. Some were damaged due to the 2011 flood. There is a strong need to upgrade these facilities to continue our mission.

Goal:
To provide support for relevant teaching/research activities at an international level and to provide reliable and professional laboratory testing services to the industry.

1st phase budget for new equipment: 7,000,000 Baht
Key Equipment Needed
  • Direct Shear Test
  • Triaxial Test
  • Ring Shear Test
  • Automatic Oedometer Test

Message from the AIT President

Posted on

As AIT celebrates its 60th Anniversary in 2019, it is an opportune moment to reflect upon the birth of AIT back in 1959 and to acknowledge the many accomplishments AIT achieved with great social impact to Asia over its illustrious history. AIT has been a shining example of international higher education in Asia, continually evolving to help graduates contribute to their communities through technology and management. We are more inspired than ever to accomplish more as we move forward. So, it is time to look ahead to what kind of university will AIT become beyond its 60th birthday, and to what resources it needs on this future journey.

Dr. Eden Y. Woon
President, Asian Institute of Technology
