FX Experience Has Gone Read-Only

I've been maintaining FX Experience for a really long time now, and I love hearing from people who enjoy my weekly links roundup. One thing I've noticed recently is that maintaining two sites (FX Experience and JonathanGiles.net) takes more time than ideal, and splits the audience up. Therefore, FX Experience will become read-only for new blog posts, but weekly posts will continue to be published on JonathanGiles.net. If you follow @FXExperience on Twitter, I suggest you also follow @JonathanGiles. This is not the end - just a consolidation of my online presence to make my life a little easier!

It’s already late May – this year is racing by! Take some time out today to enjoy the following links 🙂

Tom Schindl has posted about code editors with JavaFX. This is really impressive stuff!
Jens Deters has released MQTT.fx 0.0.15, which includes a few bug fixes and new features.
Speaking of Jens, he also posted a YouTube video showing a responsive user interface written in JavaFX in various mobile form factors.
Lee Stemkoski has posted a long article titled ‘Introduction to JavaFX for Game Development‘.
The Gluon guys have posted more details about Gluon Glisten (their commercial Java library). Johan Vos from Gluon was also interviewed by Voxxed where he provides a bunch of insight into the thinking behind Gluon. Finally, Gluon has posted a blog post where they detail their plan for offering JavaFX training courses, and where people can register their interest.
Geertjan Wielenga has posted about ‘news from the Modular JavaFX Application Framework‘.
René Jahn has posted about adding zoom support to the open source JVx library.
Nicolai Parlog has posted about the implications of JDK 9, and how JEP 253 is working to mitigate them.
Ernest Duodu has posted about how to create a JavaFX GUI using Scene Builder in NetBeans.
Rahman Usta has posted code on GitHub for a JavaFX terminal emulator.

To blow my own trumpet, this week I finally got my JEP published as a candidate for JDK 9. JEP 253 is titled ‘Prepare JavaFX UI Controls & CSS APIs for Modularization‘, and that is exactly what it is about 🙂
Alexander Casall has posted about mvvmFX, a library for Model-View-ViewModel with JavaFX.
Jens Deters has released FontAwesomeFX 8.4, which fixes a few bugs and adds a few new features.
The Gluon guys have posted a quick teaser trailer of the Gluon Glisten library that will be coming out soon. Pretty epic music 🙂
René Jahn has posted to announce the first release of the JVx JavaFX UI library.
Christoph Keimel has posted about filtering a JavaFX TreeView.
Wolfgang Weigend has posted about automated testing of JavaFX UI components – and one of the screenshots of the test tool looks strangely a lot like the 3D viewer in Scenic View….

Eugene Ryzhikov from Gluon posted a teaser video of Gluon Glisten.
Rob Terp has blogged about automatically sorting a JavaFX TableView.
René Jahn has posted about JavaFX TableView and TreeView lazy loading.
Glenn Martin has posted two new projects to GitHub: firstly, JavaFX/FXML “Data” Tag support, which allows the addition of arbitrary metadata to FXML source files. Secondly, an extended implementation of the SVG2FXML converter, intended as a drop-in replacement along side it.

René Jahn has posted populating a JavaFX TreeView control with a self-joined table.
Mirko Sertic has posted about a JavaFX-based Lua editor (using the WebView node).
sencageek has a short post on displaying a POJO in the TreeTableView control.
Dejv has posted that version 1.0.1 of ZoomFX has been released.
The folks behind yFiles let me know that they’ve released an updated version of their graphing library for JavaFX.
