"The prototype camera was developed by electrical engineers from Duke University, along with scientists from the University of Arizona, the University of California - San Diego, and Distant Focus Corp., with support from DARPA. By synchronizing 98 tiny cameras, each with a 14-megapixel sensor, in a single device, the team created a camera that can capture images of around one gigapixel resolution. However, with the addition of extra microcameras, the researchers say it has the potential to capture images at resolutions of up to 50-gigapixels - the team points out this is five times better than 20/20 human vision over a 120-degree horizontal field."

Google first launched this feature in October, but was quickly removed due to bugs. Now you can use this feature in your Gmail Chat. You can send SMS Messages to anyone right from the chat window. Just enter the phone number to which you want to send SMS Message, then the recipient can reply you by simply selecting reply option from his phone.

According to the Gmail Blog, the service is currently applied for the US numbers only, you can send SMS Messages from anywhere in the world to the US numbers only.

Send SMS text messages right from Gmail. You chat from your comfy computer and reach your friends on the go; they get your messages as texts and can peck out replies on their little keyboards.

Minoru is designed to deliver the experience of 3D video chat over the Internet. it is webcam that has two discrete lenses spaced at roughly human eye distance, these two lenses form one image which appears 3D, but it requires red and blue 3D glasses.

Minoru, which means "Reality" in Japanese, can be used with most Instant Messengers. You can also use this webcam for taking 3D photos or even 3D videos. You can upload the videos to YouTube.

To use this webcam you don't need a special platform or software for viewing 3D videos. The Minoru is supposed to be available in December 2008 for less than 100ドル.

World's Largest Solar Energy Project in India

Now this is a world record worth talking about!

The Business Standard is reporting that, US-based Clinton Foundation investing developing the world's lagest solar energy project in Gujarat, India. The project is currently in its planning phases, it's an 'Integrated Solar City' project with a capacity to generate 5000 megawatts (5 Gigawatts).

Over Five times the size of the current largest solar project in the world.

The project, expected to cost Rs 20,000 crore (approximately 475ドル-million), as said its an 'Integrated Solar City', all the raw materials including glass and panels will be produced on site, bringing down the productivity cost so the power produced will cost around Rs 4 (0ドル.10) per unit.

The Government of Gujarat is considering a Kutch or Banaskanta as favorable lacation for this project. About five times the capacity of a typical coal or nuclear plant, this project would certainly a big step in the right direction towards the green energy. Recently prime minister Manmohan Singh announced that solar power would be a key part of his plan to deal with climate change.

The current largest solar energy project in the world is a solar thermal plant in the Mojave Desert being developed by BrightSource, with an eventual capacity of up to 900 megawatts.

Researcher to Unveil Universal Attack Code for Intel Chips

Security Researcher and Author Kris Kaspersky claims to have found a flaw in Intel's processors that may allow hacker to gain full control on the kernel level remotly or just crash the system using JavaScript or TCP/IP packets, regardless of what operating system the computer is running.

He is going to demonstrate how such an attack can be made in a presentation at the upcoming Hack In The Box (HITB) Security Conference in Kuala Lampur, Malasia, during October. The proof-of-concept attacks will show how processor bugs, called errata, can be exploited using certain instruction sequences and a knowledge of how Java compilers work, allowing an attacker to take control of the compiler. Further he said, He is going to show real working of code and make it publicly available.

The attack takes advantage of known errata in chips, which most vendors have a workaround for in BIOS, but not all. XP, Vista, Linux, BSD and Mac operating systems are all vulnerable. [InfoWorld via engadget]

New Feature: Embedded Comment Form in Blogger Blog

Finally Blogger.com added the most most awaited feature in their blogging platform that is "Embedded Comment Form" like WordPress blogs. In the old comment system, the comment form was on a separate page so the commenter have to click the Post a Comment link to get to the form, causing for low comments. Most Blogspot Blogger's were complaining about this. Now with the new feature of "Embedded Comment Form" you can put the form at bottom of the post.

How to Embedded Comment Form

1) First you have to login to your Blogger.com account through http://draft.blogger.com/. To Enable this Comment Form you must have to login through http://draft.blogger.com/.

2) Choose your blog and Goto Settings >> Comments. Search for the "Comment Form Placement" setting and set the option to "Embedded Below Post" and Save Your Settings.

3) Now you should see a comment form below your post. If you don't see the comment form then read the information below very carefully.

Do you use Customized Template?

If you use customized or modified template then you need to replace some HTML code lines in your blog template to display this Comment Form on your blog. Just go through the following steps and you will find a new Comment Form below your post.

1) Go to your blogs Dashboard then go to Layout >> Edit HTML. Before editing the HTML just Backup your template so if you do any mistake, you won't loose anything.

2) Tick the Expand Widget Template option.

3) Find the Following code in the Template Editor. If you have difficulty finding the code, just search for postCommentMsg from your browsers search option.

With the comment form you can comment with Google Account, LiveJournal, WordPress, TypePad, OpenID, AIM, Name/URL, Anonymous. Though the form doesn’t look like professional one, but it is very useful feature for Blogger's.
