This is something personal and you probably don’t care, but I have been working for the museum for 3 months now. Throughout these 3 months, I’ve witnessed our curators and staff working really hard on “The Great Amazon Exhibition.” Seeing that so many people are visiting the exhibition makes me feel really happy. I’m not the one to whom the effort should be attributed, but I’m happy regardless.

One day, my boss, Mr. Iwasa, who appears in this blog on occasion, told me to go to the curator’s office by saying, “There is something interesting going on there. It can be a good topic for your blog.” Look what I found there.

A desk full of golden seals!


This is a scene of our curators doing the final quality check for the Kinin replicas (Golden seal replicas) before sending them out to museum shops. What makes this replica special is that each one of them is carefully checked by our curators to ensure the good quality. There are many replicas of Kin-in, golden seals sold in markets, but we can proudly say that this is the one that most resembles the real thing!

How serious our curators look inspecting these replicas! These two are Mr. Honda and Ms. Fukuzono. They are in charge of the Great Amazon Exhibition as well! Look how busy they are!
A lady standing at the door is Ms. Yamamoto from Fukuoka City Foundation for Arts and Cultural Promotion.


And Mr. Morimoto. He looks so professional with his white gloves! The finalization of the replica is an exclusive job for curators who specialize in Archeology. I feel so bad for not being able to help them. (Honestly!)


Why don’t we take a look at a golden seal that was not qualified to be sold? The reason for the defect status is that it has too much gold on the surface. Well, if you say so…

私事で恐縮ですが、4月からスタートした博物館勤務も早いもので3か月が経過しようとしています。大アマゾン展が公開されていますが、展覧会の準備にどれだけの人々が、どれだけの時間と労力を費やしているのか目の当たりにしたので、多くのお客様でにぎわっているのをみると本当に感慨深いです・・私はただ見てただけなんですけどね！

さて、そんなある日のことですが、上司のいわさ係長（ブログにも良く登場しますね！）から「ネタが転がってたよ！」と学芸課に行くように促されました。
そこに広がっていたのがこの風景・・・


机に一面の金印！

聞くと、ミュージアムショップで販売している金印レプリカの検品作業中なのだとか！
精巧に作られているレプリカですが、こうして一つ一つ担当学芸員の手によって丁寧に検品され、厳しい基準を通過したものだけが世にでます！金印レプリカとして出回っているものは数あれど、これは福岡市博物館と福岡市文化芸術振興財団でしか買えない、日本で一番本物にちかい金印レプリカです！

う～ん、確かにこちらの方が良いような・・？でもボツのも悪くなかったような・・？
この量を見ると確認は大変そうですが、この作業のお手伝いはできないな・・と痛感しました！

茎（なかご）に「黒田筑前守（長政）殿御所持／二ツ胴　切手　中川左平太（花押）」の銘が金象嵌でほどこされています。「二（ふた）ツ胴」とは、二つ重ねした胴体を一刀両断のもとに切り落としたことを表し、鋭い切れ味を証明するものです。切り手の中川重良は徳川秀忠・家光に仕えた試し切りの名手です。　展示は8月7日（日）まで、お見逃しなく！

It’s July already! The Great Amazon exhibition started last week and is always packed with excited kids!

Did you know there is another great event in July? The Yamakasa festival is fast approaching. I think you can already feel the festivity with decorative stalls and guys wearing traditional festival underwear on the streets. (The decorative stalls were brought out earlier than usual this year, to welcome members of the Lions Club.)

Do you want to know some big news that we couldn’t include in the newspaper?
You can see our permanent and feature exhibition for free after 17:30 from July 22nd to August 27th! ( We close at 17:30 as usual on Sundays or National holidays) We’re referring to the extended opening hours as “Twilight Museum.”

You can see the golden seal, a national treasure, and a yamakasa stall which has been specially made for our exhibition. What makes it even more special is that it features a hero of Fukuoka, Kuroda Kanbei. You can’t miss Nihongo, a spear, too. The spear is very famous for being mentioned in a song called Kuroda Bushi..

During the twilight museum period, we have several other events like concerts and (削除) a craft beer night (削除ここまで).( Craft beer night has been canceled)

2017年1月5日からの「へし切長谷部」の公開を、首を長くしてお待ちの皆さま。年始早々の福岡のホテル事情がなかなかすごいことになりそうです。（既になっている？？？）

へし切長谷部が公開される最初の週末には嵐、安室奈美恵などのコンサートが予定されています。既にかなりのホテルが抑えられているという話もあり、特に博物館周辺のホテルは混雑がものすごいかもしれません。。。

7月になりましたね〜。先週から大アマゾン展が始まった博物館では、子どもたちで大賑わい！

そして、7月といえば山笠！まちなかでは、「飾り山」や「締込み」姿の男衆を見かけるようになりました。（ライオンズクラブ国際大会が開催された今年は、いつもより早く飾り山が見れましたけどね。）
