"Covenant of Mayors" – a call for sustainability

Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, September12, 2013 – the European Comission in cooperation and with the support of the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia (CAREC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Uzbek Agency «Uzkommunlhizmat» and Hokimiat of Tashkent city will hold the First National Awareness Event aiming at presenting European Commission Initiative "Covenant of Mayors –East" in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Almaty,Kazakhstan, July25, 2013 – Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia(CAREC) in cooperation with UNEP, the Government of Norway and OSCE Center in Astana is to hold the Fourth Central Asian Leadership Programme in Almaty city, Kazakhstan on September 16-24,2013.

In April – July 2013 several important consultations, workshops and trainings were held in Turkestan region of South Kazakhstan oblast within the regional initiative of the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) on Payments for Ecosystem Services.

Scientists have known for some time that plants can conduct electricity. In fact, researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology found that plants can pack up to 200 millivolts of electrical power. A millivolt is one-thousandth of a volt.
