Room of One’s Own, A
- Synopsis
- `A Room of One’s Own’ is an extended essay by Virginia Woolf. first published in 1929, and based on a series of lectures she delivered at Newnham College and Girton College, two women’s colleges at Cambridge University in 1928. The premise is that for women to write fiction they need 500ドル and a room of their own. At one point in the reading Woolf imagines that Shakespeare had a sister, Judith, who was equally gifted with literary genius; the circumstances of the times she argues would have prevented her from exercising that talent.
