MOF/XMI Update January 1999Date: 1999年1月22日 12:52:18 -0500 From: Paul Denning <pauld@MITRE.ORG> To: XML-L@LISTSERV.HEANET.IE Subject: Re: RDF vs MOF/XMI At 10:11 AM 1/21/99 -0500, Roger L. Costello wrote: MOF/XMI is definitely NOT dead. XMI [1] will be the standard interchange format for UML. At the OMG meeting last week, a technology adoption vore was initiated for XMI. XMI uses XML to encode UML. This will allow UML models to be exchanged among various tools. Currently UML models are stored in proprietary file formats (e.g. Rational .pdl or .mdl) Within OMG, various domain SIGs (vertical markets) are modeling their respective enterprises using UML. There is work to extend UML, for example, for Real Time. MOF is used with XMI in repositories, which can form the basis for reuse. See http://www.marketplace.unisys.com/urep/.
