Please report any ads that you feel are inappropriate
There are two reporting options, depending on how the advertisement arrived on your screen.
Note: if you can't see the images in the instructions below, you may need to pause your ad blocker.
Option A - BEST CHOICE - report directly to the source
Some ads have a small blue "X" in the corner, next to the triangular, blue AdChoices icon.
Click the blue "X," and follow the prompts on the screen.

If this option is available, use it to report:
- ads that would be inappropriate on any mainstream website
- ads that you are tired of seeing yourself, even if they are not inappropriate
If there is no blue "X," or if the ad is appropriate for some websites but not for WordReference, please use option B (see below).
Note: Sometimes you may see the blue triangle icon but no blue "X," like this:

In this case, you can try clicking the blue triangle. Depending on the source of the ad, there will be
more information about where it came from, and you may have the option to block the ad through the AdChoices initiative.
Option B - second choice - report the ad to us at WordReference
Please follow three essential steps if you are reporting an ad to us.
- Take a screenshot (image) of the advertisement and save it in PNG format.
Include some of the surrounding page for context.
- Windows Vista, 7, 8, 10 - use the Snipping Tool to capture and save an image of the advertisement
- Windows XP - use the Print Screen key, and paste into Paint before saving
- Mac - use Shift-Command-4 (to capture a portion) or Shift-Command-3 (to capture your entire screen)
- Linux - use the Print Screen key and save the screenshot
- Mobile - take a screenshot using the appropriate buttons for your device
- Get the URL of the advertisement.
(Not the URL of the WordReference page where the ad appears!)
- Sometimes you can right-click the ad and choose "Copy shortcut" or "Copy link location"
- Sometimes you just need to click the ad and copy the URL from the address bar
- Email the screenshot and the URL to forums@wordreference.com
Thank you!
