What makes someone attractive?

Ah, the age-old question: What’s the deal with beauty? We mean, what makes a person beautiful? The answers may seem obvious, or controversial, but all the same, it’s a question people all over the world, all throughout history, have asked. Well, we’re here to answer it. Let’s dive in:

1. Hygiene
They say cleanliness is next to godliness! Sure, a shower in the morning doesn’t automatically make someone divine, but it sure helps. Generally, humans love to be clean and well-groomed, and we love that in other people, too.

2. Humor
Everyone loves someone who can make them laugh, right? Research shows that most people are attracted to someone with a sharp sense of humor, or at least good comedic timing. If your romantic partner can boost your mood on a moment’s notice, you kind of become unstoppable.

3. Intelligence
A smart cookie’s a tasty cookie, or so they say. Who says that? Don’t ask. We don’t know. Someone smart would know, though. Would that make you more attracted to them? Studies say that yes, it would! Intelligence is a huge factor in how hot you find someone, but it tends to be secondary to things like looks or humor. It’s more like icing on the cake.

4. Personal preferences
Now here’s the kicker: everyone finds different traits and personalities attractive! What floats your boat might sink the next, and what you find super unattractive might really get someone else going. In fact, we’d bet big money that it does. Everyone’s got different tastes, influenced by their own life experiences, and that’s a beautiful thing! It means that no matter how you look, there’s someone out there (probably a whole lot of someones) who would fight tooth and nail just to take you to dinner. And that’s beautiful!
