Outline of the Country Focused Training Course on Development of Time Use Survey and Statistical Methods (Including SDGs Indicators) Using IT for CAPMAS
Summary
The Statistics Bureau of Japan (SBJ) in combination with the Statistical Research and Training Institute (SRTI) and the National Statistics Center (NSTAC) cooperates with the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) on the "Country Focused Training Course on Development of Time Use Survey and Statistical Methods (Including SDGs Indicators) Using IT for CAPMAS".
The training has been conducted for 3 years between January 2020 and December 2022. It aims to strengthen the capacity of CAPMAS for implementation of time use survey and other statistical surveys using IT. For this purpose, the SBJ offers trainings in order to build and improve the capacity of CAPMAS staff.
*Since the training was suspended because of COVID-19, the period was extended until the end of 2024.
Background
CAPMAS plays an important role in the implementation process of Egypt National Development Plan by producing and disseminating statistical data and information which should be helpful for policy makers to make decision and solve problems based on accurate data and information.
CAPMAS has, however, never collected comprehensive time-use statistics except pilot survey conducted 2015, and CAPMAS plans to collect time-use data regularly to provide reference information for policy making of various said areas. In this regard, CAPMAS requested Japan to share its experiences through a series of country focused training programs for development of time use survey and statistical methods (including SDGs indicators) using IT.
Outline of the Program
- Program Objective
To obtain knowledge and experience of Japanese Survey on Time Use and Leisure Activities and other surveys methods using IT in order to conduct Time-use Survey and other statistical surveys including SDGs indicators in Egypt. - Expected Outputs
Practical capabilities of young and middle-aged staffs of CAPMAS will be improved to find solutions for effectively conducting Time Use Survey and other statistical activities including SDGs indicators by learning Japan?s experience and know-how, which will also be feedback to other staffs of CAPMAS in the training of trainers and/or other opportunities in order to attain the purpose and objectives of the project. - Duration
3 years in total from January 2020 till December 2022
