Sonuscore The Sculpture sample library
Described as "an instrument made for the adventurous composer", Sonuscore’s latest sample library has been built entirely from recordings of a single hand-built metal sound sculpture — one of around 10 in the world! Every sound in The Sculpture originates from the object, and has been captured across four microphone positions and shaped into two playable instruments that promise to deliver a truly distinctive palette of sounds.
To create the samples used in the instrument, Sonuscore recorded the sound sculpture across its whole body. The object comprises large upper and lower plates that ring with an almost synth-like tone when struck, along with thin connecting rods, which reveal fine granular detail when played with a bow. Every sound has been captured directly from the sculpture, with the company striking the plates and playing the connecting rods with both bows and mallets to create an array of metallic sounds.
The Sculpture ships as two instruments. The Single instrument gives users direct access to the original recordings across all four microphone perspectives, and has been designed for composers and sound designers who want the sound of the raw object under their fingers. The Engine then layers five voices — two freely playable, two arpeggiators and one granular — with slot and master effects sections, allowing users to create evolving soundscapes from the source material.

For sound designers working in metallic, textural and granular territory, it offers an organic source rather than a synthesised approximation.
Compatibility
The Sculpture runs in Native Instruments Kontakt Player version 7.10.9 or higher, which is supported on PCs running Windows 10 or later, and Macs running macOS 13 and above. VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.
