structured pathology reporting of cancer resources

Protocols, guides, forms, request information sheets and templates are provided for educational purposes and to support the implementation of Structured Pathology Reporting of Cancer (SPRC).

  • Protocols contain the complete set of standards and guidelines; including key documentation, evidentiary support, background, exemplar request information sheet, exemplar histopathology report, definitions and references. Newly updated protocols contain bookmarks to each element note or reporting guide.
  • Proformas (hyperlinked) or Guides are designed to be a reporting guide or an 'aide de memoire' of the standards and guidelines from the protocol. Hyperlinked proformas or guides contain a hyperlink for each standard or guideline number to the element note or evidentiary support available on the RCPA website. Proformas are designed as a reporting guide or checklist, with response values and spaces for notes.
  • Request Information sheets provide an exemplar request form to clinicians, which contains essential information required by the pathologist to be provided with the specimen.
  • Exemplar reports provide an exemplar histopathology report showing an example of how the protocol can be used in practice.
  • Typist/data entry templates are intended to faciliate data entry of dictated structured reports in a simple checklist format.
  • Download all (.zip) is a compressed downloadable folder containing all of the available documents for the protocol.

Note: Version updates to the protocols v1.2, v1.3 etc represent minor formatting updates only and do not substantially change the content of the protocol.

  • Organ-specific stakeholders consulted, are listed in each protocol.
