National Pharmaceutical Association

The National Pharmaceutical Association was established in 1998 to create a consolidated, nationally recognized, credential for pharmacists seeking certification in a variety of disease states.

NISPC established appropriate standards of care and offers certification in the areas of:

  • Anticoagulation
  • Asthma
  • Diabetes
  • Dyslipidemia

NISPC was formed by the following organizations:

  • American Pharmaceutical Association (APhA)
  • National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP)
  • National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS)
  • National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA)

NISPC is a non-profit organization and exists independently, both administratively and financially from the founding organizations.

Today, over 1,300 pharmacists nationwide hold the prestigious NISPC credential.

Pharmacist credentialing in disease state management (DSM) is the hottest trend in patient care. Until recently, testing was available only on a limited basis in a few states. Now, as the trend continues to grow. DSM exams are available to pharmacists in all 50 states.
