Justice Minister held web conference with Secretary-General of ASEAN H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn.
On April 12, 2023, Minister Saito held an online meeting with Secretary-General of ASEAN H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn and exchanged views toward the "Justice Affairs Diplomacy" Ministerial Forum, which the Ministry of Justice of Japan will host in Tokyo in July.
Minister Saito and Secretary-General Kao confirmed their commitment to the success of the ASEAN-Japan Special Meeting of Justice Ministers (AJSMJ), which will be held on the occasion of the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, and reaffirmed to further strengthen cooperation in the field of law and justice.
In addition, with regard to the ASEAN-G7 Justice Ministers’ Interface, which will be the first-ever occasion for ASEAN and G7 Ministers of Justice to come together, Minister Saito and Secretary-General Kao also confirmed that they will work together to build cooperative relations through dialogue between the two regions.
Minister Saito requested Secretary-General Kao to attend these meetings face-to-face, and Secretary-General Kao responded positively.
