Minister of Justice’s Visit to the Kingdom of Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam
Minister of Justice FURUKAWA Yoshihisa visited the Kingdom of Thailand and the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam for 5 days, June 26 - 30, 2022.
In Thailand, Minister Furukawa met with H.E. Mr. Somsak Thepsutin, Minister of Justice, Mr. Jeremy Douglas, Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Southeast Asia and Pacific and Dr. Phiset Sa-ardyen, Executive Director of Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) respectively.
In addition, in Viet Nam, Minister Furukawa met with H.E. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, H.E. Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister, H.E. General To Lam, Minister of Public Security, H.E. Mr. Dao Ngoc Dung, Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and H.E. Mr. Nguyen Khanh Ngoc, Vice Minister of Justice respectively.
In both Thailand and Viet Nam, Minister Furukawa officially requested the key government officials to provide support for the Japan-ASEAN Special Meeting for Justice Ministers for 2023, which will mark 50 years since the Japan-ASEAN friendship and cooperation started.
And Minister Furukawa exchanged views with the relevant key government officials on the issues regarding the Specified Skilled Worker Program and the Technical Intern Training Program and confirmed bilateral collaboration under the Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) between Japan and their respective countries.
In addition, Minister Furukawa visited Sending Organization and also had a roundtable discussion with potential technical intern trainees.
