Justice Minister held web conference with Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice of the United Kingdom (July 21, 2021)
On July 21, 2021, Minister Kamikawa held a web conference with the Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice Robert Buckland and exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including digitization of the judicial system during the COVID-19 pandemic and best practices in the fields of institutional corrections, probation, and crime victim support.
They confirmed that Japan and the UK are strategic partners sharing fundamental values such as the rule of law towards the realization of a "Free and Open Indo-Pacific" and agreed to further strengthen cooperation by engaging in action-oriented dialogues, including discussions on the exchange of a Memorandum of Cooperation and implementation of joint projects.
