Justice Minister delivers statement at the Ministerial Meeting on Building Peaceful and Inclusive Societies through Justice for All (April 14, 2021)
On April 14, 2021, Minister Kamikawa participated online in the Ministerial Meeting on Building Peaceful and Inclusive Societies through Justice for All. In her video statement, Minister Kamikawa introduced the legal support provided by the Japan Legal Support Center (Houterasu) after the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011 and highlighted that ensuring people’s access to justice can assist in recovery from a crisis.
Minister Kamikawa presented the "Kyoto Declaration", which was adopted at the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice (The Kyoto Congress), held in March 2021, and emphasized the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships toward achieving the SDGs, particularly Goal 16.
