1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per regular employee in September 2000 were 288,119 yen increased by 0.9% compared with a year earlier .

Contractual cash earnings were 283,960 yen increased by 1.0% and scheduled cash earnings were 265,456 yen increased by 0.6%.

Real wage index was increased by 1.9%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per regular employee in September 2000 were 155.3 hours increased by 0.9% compared with a year earlier.

Scheduled hours worked were 145.5 hours increased by 0.7%.

Non-scheduled hours worked in Manufacturing were 14.2 hours increased by 10.9% and its seasonally adjusted figure was increased by 0.5% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Regular employees in September 2000 were decreased by 0.2% compared with a year earlier, full-time employees were decreased by 1.1%, part-time employees were increased by 3.6%.

Regular employees of major industries were as follows:decreased by 1.5% in Manufacturing, decreased by 0.6% in Wholesale and Retail Trade, Eating and Drinking Places, and increased by 1.6% in Services.
