1 Cash Earnings

Average monthly total cash earnings per a regular employee of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in April 1999 were 290,092 yen same as the same month of the previous year.

Contractual cash earnings were 283,325 yen decreased by 0.3% and scheduled cash earnings were 264,585 yen decreased by 0.3%.

Real wage indices were increased by 0.1%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per a regular employee of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in April 1999 were 159.4 hours decreased by 1.4% from the same month of the previous year .

Scheduled hours worked were 149.6 hours decreased by 1.3%.

Non-scheduled hours worked in manufacturing were 12.2 hours decreased by 4.0%. And seasonally adjusted figures were decreased by 1.4% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Average employment of regular employees of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in April 1999 were decreased by 0.3% from the same month of the previous year , full-time employees were were decreased by 1.1% from the same month of the previous year, part-time employees were increased by 3.2% from the same month of the previous year.

Average employment of regular employees by main industries were decreased 2.3% in Manufacturing, decreased by 0.5% in Wholesale and Retail Trade, Eating and Drinking Place, and increased by 1.7% in Services.
