Average monthly total cash earnings per a regular employees of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in February 1999 were 281,878 yen decreased by 0.6% from the same month of the previous year .

Contractual cash earnings were 279,549 yen decreased by 0.6% and scheduled cash earnings were 261,629 yen decreased by 0.5%.

Real wage indices were decreased by 0.6%.

2 Hours Worked

Average monthly total hours worked per a regular employees of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in February 1999 were 151.1 hours decreased by 1.8% from the same month of the previous year .

Scheduled hours worked were 141.7 hours decreased by 1.6%.

Non-scheduled hours worked in manufacturing were 12.1 hours decreased by 8.4%. And seasonally adjusted figures were decreased by 2.7% from the previous month.

3 Employment

Average employment of regular employees of establishments with 5 or more regular employees in February 1999 were decreased by 0.3% from the same month of the previous year , full-time employees were decreased by 0.9%, part-time employees were increased by 2.7%.

Average employment of regular employees by main industries were decreased 2.1% in Manufacturing, decreased by 0.2% in Wholesale and Retail Trade, Eating and Drinking Place, and increased by 1.4% in Services.
