On Wednesday, June 26, METI Minister Ken Saito, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, and Republic of Korea (ROK) Minister of Trade, Industry, and Energy Ahn Duk-geun gathered in Washington, D.C. for the first Trilateral Commerce and Industry Ministerial Meeting. This meeting builds on the agreement reached at last year's JP-US-ROK summit meeting at Camp David, USA.

The three principals confirmed the significance and importance of economic cooperation among the three countries and discussed ways to strengthen trilateral cooperation in economic areas such as in critical and emerging technologies, resilience of supply chains, a level playing field, and clean energy. The three principals also issued a joint statement on cooperation in individual areas such as semiconductors, AI, critical minerals and clean energy.

The three principals also committed to hold an annual meeting and to continue to advance cooperation in these areas at the working level.
