Minister Saito Holds Meeting with H.E. Mr. Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine

On Monday, February 19, Mr. Saito Ken, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister of Ukraine, who was visiting Japan for the Japan-Ukraine Conference for the Promotion of Economic Growth and Reconstruction. They discussed future bilateral cooperation in the economic and industrial fields between Japan and Ukraine based on the outcomes announced at the conference.
Minister Saito and Ukrainian Prime Minister Shmyhal agreed that the conclusion of the 56 cooperation documents announced at the Japan-Ukraine Conference for the Promotion of Economic Growth and Reconstruction is a significant achievement and that they will work to expand on such cooperation in the future. In addition, based on the outcomes of this conference, they agreed to promote collaboration not only at the government level but also among private companies in both countries to stimulate trade and investment and to firmly cooperate towards the reconstruction of Ukraine. Furthermore, they discussed specific support measures to stimulate collaboration, investment, and trade between companies in both countries, such as the establishment of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Kyiv office and the creation of a new credit line by Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI).
