On Monday, November 20, 2023, Mr. Iwata Kazuchika, State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, and Mr. Tsuji Kiyoto, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, will visit Ukraine, together with representatives of Japanese business sectors.

This visit will be conducted as an economic mission with the participation of the chair of the Committee on Ukraine Economic Reconstruction, Keidanren, and other representatives of Japanese business sectors that are highly interested in the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine.

In Kyiv, Ukraine, the Japanese mission will exchange views with H.E. Mr. Denys Shmyhal, Prime Minister, and other government officials of Ukraine, mainly on efforts for its recovery and reconstruction. In addition, the mission will also exchange views with representatives of Ukraine business sectors, including the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in order to promote business collaboration that will contribute to recovery and reconstruction.

Japan considers this visit of the economic mission an important opportunity for holding direct talks to ascertain Ukrainian needs and form specific projects between Japan and Ukraine, and the Government of Japan as a whole intends to further accelerate related public-private efforts for supporting the country, thereby leading to successful outcomes in the Japan-Ukraine Conference for Promotion of Economic Reconstruction, which is scheduled to be held on February 19, 2024.
