Japan-Korea Export Control Policy Dialogue Held

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) of the Republic of Korea (ROK) held a Japan-Korea Export Control Policy Dialogue online.

On July 7, METI and MOTIE held a Japan-Korea Export Control Policy Dialogue online.
In this policy dialogue, METI and MOTIE exchanged views on the international situation regarding security export control, and signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) which reflects the follow-up framework agreed upon through previous policy dialogues between the two countries. The MOC stipulates the following:

  1. Policy dialogues will continue to be held periodically.
  2. Participants will make efforts to improve their export control system and its operation while referring to the same of the other side.
  3. If an inappropriate situation is discovered, both participants will hold a policy dialogue without delay to take pertinent actions as necessary, including revision of the respective export control systems and their operation.
METI will strive to ensure proper operation of the export control system under the follow-up framework agreed upon with MOTIE of the ROK.
