Report "Agile Governance Update -How Governments, Businesses and Civil Society Can Create a Better World By Reimagining Governance-" Compiled

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has compiled the report "Agile Governance Update -How Governments, Businesses and Civil Society Can Create a Better World By Reimagining Governance-," which gives an overview of Agile Governance and recent specific examples of related efforts to realize Society 5.0.
1. Overview
In order to present new governance models for the era of cyber-physical integration, METI's Study Group on New Governance Models released the following two reports: "GOVERNANCE INNOVATION: Redesigning Law and Architecture for Society 5.0" in 2020 and "GOVERNANCE INNOVATION Ver. 2: A Guide to Designing and Implementing Agile Governance" in 2021 (hereinafter referred to collectively as the "Governance Innovation Reports"). We are delighted to announce that the Agile Governance model presented in the Governance Innovation Reports received a very positive response from readers all over the world.
Given the increasing interest in agile governance, we received many requests to provide a commentary to facilitate a holistic understanding of the two Governance Innovation Reports. We also received many questions on the specific processes involved in conducting agile governance.
Therefore, the Study Group has prepared a draft report titled "Agile Governance Update -How Governments, Businesses and Civil Society Can Create a Better World By Reimagining Governance-" and called for public comments on it.
The content of the draft report has now been updated—based on the opinions received from the public comments—and has been released.
2. Purpose of the Report
- Clarify the overall perspective of "agile governance" presented in the two Governance Innovation Reports. (Part I)
- Outline the implementation processes of agile governance (Part II)
- Present institutional designs and incentive mechanisms for implementing agile governance, with specific examples. (Part III)
