The following browsers have been tested on the indicated platforms. Version numbers are the lowest numbers I have tested, but may not represent minimum usable versions (unless specifically indicted). Later versions should be fine.Browser Support for jsMath
Macintosh OS X:
Safari 1.1 and up YesInternet Explorer 5.2 Yes MSIE/Mac is pretty unstable and can crash with jsMath;
it is very buggy with jsMath on a page with lots of CSS;
see the bug list for more details.Netscape 7.1 and up Yes 4.7 No
I don't have much Windows experience, so if you can verify that jsMath
works or doesn't work with a particular Windows browser, please let me
know.
I do not have access to a unix or linux installation where I can test these, and only report the browsers that others have told me work. The TeX fonts are available in TrueType and Type1 forms for unix, so it should be possible to make jsMath work there. The instructions for installing the TeX fonts under unix may help you to set things up for jsMath on your installation.
The image font methods work fine for unix, and there is a generic fallback configuration for unicode fonts, but its quality will depend on the unicode fonts that you have available. I have not tuned it to any specific browser, so it may be possible to improve the performance for your browser/font combination.
